Dampier Peninsula

We headed for Pender Bay Escape which is located half way up the Cape Leveque road. The turn off you take is to Middle lagoon and you have to really watch for the signs as there aren’t that many! 50kms in along a very sandy and corrugated road you come across the beautiful waters of Pender Bay!

It took us an hour and a half to drive the track in. We took the van so we were pretty slow, but overall we were stoked at how well our Car and Van handled it. There was no dust inside the van and nothing had moved which was a relief. We had our tyre pressure down to 28psi this seemed to work well for our load.

We met Andrew the Owner of the place and he showed us to our picturesque site C6. With million dollar views for $40 per night we were extremely happy. The property has a shower/toilet block and bore water that you can collect up at the homestead.

We started each day with a workout at sunrise and spent the rest of  day relaxing and swimming. We took a trip up to Kooljaman and Cygnet bay. $10 to park your car at Kooljaman and have a walk around. $20 if you wanted to take your vehicle down to the beach. So we took the option of a 200m walk to the beach. The rocks on the beach are absolutely jaw dropping they give off such a special omen. We had a quick lunch before we headed back. Cygnet Bay was beautiful so green and tropical, we were too late for a tour and judging by Lowana’s patience we didn’t think we would have lasted.

We met some really nice people whilst we were up there. We are still pinching ourselves each day at what we are doing, being able to travel with no end date only excites us to keep exploring and seeing our beautiful country.

We headed back to Broome after 4 nights to re stock before we set off to Barn Hill.
