Litchfield and Berry Springs

Due to it being the NTs school holidays we didn’t get to explore all of Litchfield as it was quite overcrowded and we struggled to find a place to park up! We did manage to see the lost city which are rocks that have eroded over thousands of years standing together in random formations. It’s as if some ancient civilisation built and deserted it. In the 3rd photo below check out the shape of the rock. It reminds Lyndon and I of an ape.

Wangi falls was beautiful walking up to the majestic waterfall was incredible. It’s such a shame you can’t swim at the moment due to a croc sighting. We tried to get a car park at Florence falls and burly rock however it was full. We decided then and there we will just have to return when the school holidays are over.

On our way up to Darwin we called into Berry Springs early before the crowds. Felt like we were in the middle of Thailand it was that tropical with big green palm trees and warm thermal water to swim in. It was great with no one there! The national park was well equipped with a lovely grassed area with toilets fire pits and bbq areas.

We then made our way to Howard Springs Nature reserve where again had great facilities, beautiful big rock pools to splash in plus bbqs, toilets and a playground. This park was the first national park of Darwin as it was a resting camp for the soldiers of WW2.
